German Tesla Taxi company, Aschaffenburg has only Tesla cars in its fleet. The Tesla Taxi company has enabled its customers to use Doge to pay for their rides. The company made this unexpected move after being inspired by Tesla’s Elon Musk.
The Tesla Taxi company in an announcement on Reddit earlier last week said it has become the “first Taxi in Germany to accept Dogecoin as payment.”
While another post on Facebook provides further insights into what indicates customers who want to use the Shiba Inu-inspired meme coin need to have installed a digital asset wallet.
Customers can use the digital wallet to send the value of the trip converted before, during, or after, but they need to cover the fees if such exist.
According to Stefan Muller, the company’s owner, the decision was initially just a “cool marketing idea for our business.” It was only after the Reddit post started trending with more interested people in the actual use of dogecoin for trips it came into reality. The taxi company currently accepts two cryptocurrencies which include bitcoin and ether but will focus more on Doge considering its recent price and popularity boost.
Move Inspired by Tesla’s Elon Musk
According to Muller the initial idea of Dogecoin as a payment method came from his son. His son was very interested in Doge and had invested money in it for months.
While his son’s inspiration for the meme coin came from Tesla’s CEO- Elon Musk. As he is arguably the most prominent Dogecoin supporter since the start of 2021.
Musk has shown his liking for Doge, especially during the Saturday Night Live show where he promised to take it to space. Musk also said he was working with developers on how to enhance the network and everything in between.
After Tesla, the German Tesla Taxi company, Aschaffenburg will be yet another name to allow Doge payments. Others to accept Doge include Mark Cuban’s NBA team – the Dallas Mavericks.
