Fortnite Partners with Balenciaga, a luxury apparel brand. This will enable Fortnite players to buy Balenciaga outfits for themselves and their in-game avatars.
The partnership was announced on Monday, Fortnite will feature Balenciaga outfits to wear within Fortnite and a limited collection of real-world items such as hats, t-shirts, and sweatshirts.
Fortnite players can grab “backbling” and other items to personalize their in-game look via the Balenciaga pickaxes features.
The brand will also get its own in-game Balenciaga store; it will feature members of the game’s community on virtual billboards.A limited-edition collection of physical apparel will also be launched by Fortnite and Balenciaga. This can be purchased at Balenciaga stores or the retailer’s website. The limited-edition clothing line will roll out on Monday or Tuesday, depending on the region.Epic Games President Adam Sussman in a statement said, “Self-expression is one of the things that makes Fortnite so unique, and there couldn’t be a better first fashion partner than Balenciaga to bring their authentic designs and trendsetting culture to millions of players around the world.”Metaverse, which combines augmented reality and virtual reality seems to be the new norm. Balenciaga is the latest clothing brand to experience it to connect with people. Mark Zuckerberg is one of the supporters of Metaverse, believes it will eventually replace the modern internet.In yet another partnership earlier this month between gaming platform Roblox and shoe company Vans. Players will be able to customize outfits or skateboards on Vans World and then out at virtual skate parks. This was followed by the launch of the virtual Gucci collection within Roblox in June.
Earlier Fortnite hosted a number of virtual events within the game, part of its plans to expand into the metaverse. This includes the concerts featuring Ariana Grande and Travis Scott.
