Canonical has released Ubuntu 21.10 Impish Indri Beta. A stable release of the same is scheduled for October 14 later this year.

Ubuntu 21.10 Impish Indri Features
Ubuntu 21.10 comes with a major update with the inclusion of GNOME 40. The earlier Ubuntu 21.04 was not possible due to the redesign of the GNOME shell, which would’ve impacted GNOME Extensions.

Now you can switch between both Windows and Workspaces by clicking on the “Activities” section (or the super key). You can still view the Ubuntu dock and the separator line that separates the Trash can and running apps from the app icons.
It now gets a new trackpad gesture feature which enables you to switch between workspaces and move between app pages in the launcher. There is no room for guesses, yes you are right it comes with Yaru light as its default theme and Ubuntu has ditched the mixed theme.
All apps such as Mozilla Firefox, Thunderbird, and LibreOffice have been updated to their latest versions. Similar to how GNOME 3.38 includes GNOME 40 apps, GNOME 40 comes with GNOME 41 updated apps like Calendar, GNOME Disk Utility, and System Monitor.
