Google Files app allows you to free up storage space on your Android smartphone. We would like to recommend using Google Files for managing files on your phone. Before we start, make sure you have the Google Files latest version or at least 1.0.27 installed on your smartphone.

  • Open the app and go to a media file
  • Tap the Chromecast icon at the top right of the screen and select your Chromecast
  • Manage your media from your Android device

The latest feature works with all your music, photo or video files. It enables you to cast to other smart devices in your home network, which includes a JBL speaker or a Google Nest Mini. You can also play your media files on to your Android TV set-top box and Google Nest Hub.

While you are in a tab with media files, the Chromecast sign will appear. If you are only having Word documents and PDF files on your Android phone casting is not possible. Once you start casting you can view the media on full screen. The operations are adjusted accordingly to the content you are viewing, for example, you can swipe from left to right to browse photo albums.
