Snapchat will allow users to change the Username starting February 23, according to the company’s announcement on Thursday. The change in the username will not have an impact on any other aspects of the user’s account such as friend lists, Snap codes, Snap scores, memories, etc. This feature will be available for all Snapchat users on iOS and Android devices worldwide.
According to Snapchat, usernames that have already been used cannot be used. Additionally, once the user decides to change their username, they will be prompted with a reminder that they can only change their usernames once per year.
How to change your Snapchat username?
- Tap the Bitmoji icon in the top-left corner of the camera to head to the profile section.
- Select settings by tapping on the gear icon in the top-right corner.
- Click “username,” you’ll see a “change username” button marked in blue.
- Enter a new username and hit “next” to finalize the change.
Users have been requesting this feature for a long time, Snapchat keeping in mind how people grow over the year and change and would also want to change their handles. Earlier in October 2021, reverse app engineer Alessandro Paluzzi first discovered the feature and revealed that Snap was working on a way for users to change their usernames.
