Sony Xperia smartphones have been around for many years. The Xperia brand has quality written all over it and has been known for its design and unique features. This time Sony bring UsNow video chat app identical to Skype for smartphones
Sony UsNow – Share smartphone screen
Sony Corporation registered a trademark with the EUIPO for UsNow on April 11. Müller Fottner Steinecke from Munich a law firm from Germany applied for its patent. The company has been around with Sony even during the registration of the trademark of CinemaWide Display, the enormously long 21: 9 screen used by the new Xperia 1 and Xperia 10 smartphones.
UsNow trademark has been classified as Class 9 and described as smartphone software for sharing the screen with others and simultaneously communicating via video chat.
The feature supported by UsNow is not new, an identical feature can be found on other apps like Skype which also offers the option to share smartphone screens. The Share smartphone screen option comes in handy while discussing a project while you are on a holiday destination with your friends.
Sony UsNow may turn out to be better than Skype offers screen sharing only via the PC. It does not support Android and iOS devices. This where Sony has an edge over Skype.
There are many other apps available on Google Play Store for Screen mirroring but these are meant for viewing smartphone screens on a TV. There is no video chat service that provides a combination of a smartphone to smartphone screen sharing.
It is rather early to know when Sony will be releasing the new UsNow Smartphone app. Yet it seems quite a possibility it might coincide with the launch of its high-end Xperia smartphone. This might be launched at the IFA 2019 event to be held in Berlin from September 6.
