TikTok will partner with Atmosphere to bring TikTok TV to commercial venues for the first time. TikTok will launch and integrate TikTok TV initially with Amazon Fire TV, and later on Google TV and other Android TV OS devices, LG Smart TVs, and Samsung Smart TVs.
In a blog post, TikTok said, “We’re taking TikTok to the big screen in the living room, offering a new way to experience the joy and creativity of TikTok together at home. With our mobile app, we bring people little bursts of joy, and the big screen experience allows families and friends to easily enjoy TikTok together.”
TikTok will partner with Atmosphere, a startup that provides licensed and curated streamed video content for commercial venues like Westin, Taco Bell, and Texas Roadhouse. It also does the same for doctors’ offices, gyms, and other venues where people spend dwelling time.
Atmosphere in the first stage will develop a new channel on its platform dedicated to curated TikTok videos. TikTok content will for the first time be used for an out-of-home video service.
Dan Page, head of global business development in a statement said, “TikTok has become a destination for more than a billion people to be entertained, get inspired, and find community. By partnering with Atmosphere, we’re excited to make it easy for people to experience TikTok together by bringing the joy and creativity of our platform to new screens, venues, and audiences.”
Earlier Atmosphere has raised $100 million thanks to the strong growth last year. This resulted in an increase in the number of venues using its ad-supported streaming services to 19,000, covering some 20 million monthly unique users.
TikTok in its blog post mentioned, “The TikTok TV app is built for a TV home-viewing experience, making it easy to watch content from our ‘For You’ and ‘Following’ feeds on the big screen. This includes the most liked and viewed videos across a huge range of categories, from gaming and comedy to food and animals. To get started, people can login to the TikTok TV app with their existing account. There is also a ‘Discover’ page, which lets you find more of your favorite content, creators, and categories on TikTok.”
