What is Mac Catalyst?
Mac Catalyst allows native Mac Apps to share code with your iPad apps, and additional features just for Mac. It uses the latest APIs on macOS Monterey to display pop-up buttons, tooltips, and a subtitle in a windowʼs title bar.
You can also provide touch alternatives, keyboard navigation, and support for Siri intents, as well as allow users to print everywhere using Command-P, and more and turn your iPad app into a powerful Mac app.
According to the rumors, WhatsApp for iPad will be a Catalyst app. This means it will run seamlessly on macOS and share code while running on separate platforms.
The latest offering from WhatsApp for macOS looks identical to the app for iPadOS. It will feature the same basic interface with a few minor UI changes to accommodate a desktop experience.
Also, it’s likely the new Mac app will replace the existing macOS WhatsApp app and will not require you to stay connected to it via smartphone.
These apps will be able to support multi-device capability and allow users to log in to WhatsApp accounts on four different linked devices. Additionally, you don’t require your smartphone to be connected to the internet.
WABetainfo mentioned WhatsApp will release WhatsApp for iPad initially, this will be followed with WhatsApp for macOS later on.
