WhatsApp duplicates Facebook as it reveals new ways to communicate for its millions of users.

A new feature called WhatsApp Communities for a chat was introduced recently, which is identical to the Facebook Groups feature which brings people with similar interests in particular subjects together.

The latest WhatsApp groups feature will enable up to 256 people to be included in a single conversation. While they will also be able to message thousands of people at once.

The latest update suggests WhatsApp is turning out to be more like a full-fledged social network, thanks to the end-to-end encryption from WhatsApp.

You can also create additional subgroups with a community page, to further narrow down conversations.

According to WhatsApp, the community page will include one for a local school, with sub-groups created this will revolve around specific classes along with anyone interested in carpooling.

WhatsApp in a blog post explained, “Communities on WhatsApp will enable people to bring together separate groups under one umbrella with a structure that works for them. That way people can receive updates sent to the entire Community and easily organize smaller discussion groups on what matters to them. Communities will also contain powerful new tools for admins, including announcement messages that are sent to everyone and control over which groups can be included.”

Talking about the recent WhatsApp development Mark Zuckerberg Meta CEO said, “I expect this to be an important evolution for WhatsApp and online communication overall. In the same way that social feeds took the basic technology behind the internet and made it so anyone could find people and content online, I think community messaging will take the basic protocols behind one-to-one messaging and extend them so you can communicate more easily with groups of people to get things done together.”

WhatsApp will also be introducing a number of other features that will significantly change the way you use the app.

In the forthcoming weeks, WhatsApp may also be releasing the much-awaited reactions feature. This feature will enable people to respond to comments with emojis.

Another feature on the list is the ability to have a voice call with up to 32 people all at the same time with just one simple tap.
