Apple earlier surprised everyone by putting the new MagSafe battery pack on sale. But are you aware of the secret iPhone 12 feature that comes along with it.
Apple’s new MagSafe battery pack offers a secret iPhone 12 feature – Reverse Wireless Charging.
We all know the latest MagSafe battery pack can be magnetically attached to the back of an iPhone 12 to charge it wirelessly.
Not many know about the secret feature that allows users to reverse wireless charging. You can attach the MagSafe Battery Pack to an iPhone, and the iPhone is charging via a Lightning cable, the iPhone is actually delivering power to the battery pack.
This was brought into light by MacRumors in a support document, it said “If both your iPhone and MagSafe Battery Pack need to be charged, you can charge them at the same time. Attach your MagSafe Battery Pack to your iPhone and then plug the MagSafe Battery Pack into a power adapter. (…) You can also charge both if you attach your MagSafe Battery Pack to your iPhone, then plug your iPhone into a power source. You might want to charge this way if you need to connect your iPhone to another device while charging, like if you’re using wired CarPlay or transferring photos to a Mac.”
This means you can charge other devices such as AirPods using an iPhone 12 and might also work while it is plugged in.
You can buy the MagSafe Battery Pack for $99, it uses Apple’s new magnetic system to connect with the iPhone 12 family. Currently, there is no official announcement about the secret feature working with other accessories besides the new MagSafe Battery Pack, but this may change in the future.
