Pureback Nexen Tire -  A Microplastic Collecting Tire That Could Reduce Air Pollution
Reading Time: 3 minutes

Pureback Nexen Tire is a microplastic collecting tire concept designed by Cheolhee Lee, Seongjong Kang, and Lee JH96. The common source of plastic pollution wrecking our planet are microplastics and we need to get rid of them quickly.

The toxic nature of microplastics is not only harming humans but also the plants, animals, and birds around us. The worst thing about microplastics is they are hard to detect for the naked eye.According to a recent study airborne microplastic pollution is turning into a major contributor, and vehicle tires are to blame for that majorly. An average tire loses 4kg during its lifetime, according to Andreas Stohl, from the Norwegian Institute for Air. Additionally, the electric vehicle revolution is making things worse as they are much heavier than their internal combustion engine counterparts, this leads to tire and brake pad wear. Pureback Nexen Tire is an eco-friendly tire as it separates and discharges the microplastics while driving. The harmful airborne plastic is pushed through the inlet between the tire treads where the hazardous material is stored in the central capsule. The sides of the tire are made of steel which creates safe housing for collected material. The tire offers good functionality as it solves serious problems while being aesthetically pleasing to look at.Pureback Nexen Tire -  A Microplastic Collecting Tire That Could Reduce Air Pollution_5Pureback Nexen Tire features grooves and the wheel cover housing is connected to LED lighting on the side walls. The tire illuminates in blue color while collecting the microplastics and when it’s full turns red. Indicating it’s time for you to dispose off the toxic material at the next hydrogen filling station.Pureback Nexen Tire -  A Microplastic Collecting Tire That Could Reduce Air Pollution_1
