Just a few days after the release of Facebook Rayban smart glasses, Xiaomi introduces its latest AR smart Glasse with calling, photos features, and much more.

The latest Xiaomi AR smart glasses offer users the option to take photos, make calls, display notifications, messages, directions, and real-time text translation.

Xiaomi has not yet declared the release dates of its latest AR smart glasses. As of now, the company has just released the concept teaser and there are no plans for putting it on sale which may mellow down your excitement.Xiaomi AR Smart Glasses-1The Xiaomi smart glasses will be powered by a quad-core ARM processor and run on Android. The smart glasses are slightly heavier than Facebook RayBan glasses. The Xiaomi AR smart glasses weigh around 51 grams. The smart glasses come with an indicator light just like its competitor to show when the camera is in use. The 5MP camera works in coordination with the Xiaomi AI voice assistant to capture stunning photos and translate text in real-time.

The 0.14-inch MicroLED display is stunning, it projects images onto the optical waveguide lens. The size of the display chip used to power the display is merely 2.4mm x 2.02mm, almost the size of a rice grain. The choice of a monochrome display allows the device to reach a peak brightness of 2 million nits.

Why is MicroLED Special?

What makes MicroLED better than OLED is its capability to display brighter and deeper blacks. MicroLED also has higher pixel density, longer lifespan, simpler structure, compact display, and easier screen integration. All these features make it the optimal choice for OLED. According to Xiaomi, it uses optical waveguide technology to transmit light beams to the human eye.

The company in a blog post said, “The grating structure etched onto the inner surface of the lens allows light to be refracted in a unique way, directing it safely into the human eye. The refraction process involves bouncing light beams countless times, allowing the human eye to see a complete image, and greatly increasing usability while wearing. All this is done inside a single lens, instead of using complicated multiple lens systems, mirrors, or half mirrors as some other products do.”

AR Display is Not an Extension of Your SmartphoneAR Display is Not an Extension of Your Smartphone

The latest AR smart glasses use a total of 497 components, this includes miniature sensors and communications. It also includes the AR display, it certainly is not an extension of your smartphone.

Xiaomi has always been a budget-friendly company, which aims to offer high-quality products at affordable prices. As a matter of fact, Xiaomi AR smart glasses are way cheaper than Facebook RayBan smart glasses. We assume by the time Xiaomi AR smart glasses hit the production lines more advanced options will be available like the Wayfarer.
