It is confirmed Bored Ape Yacht Club’s official Discord channel was hacked along with many other NFT projects on Friday.

In a tweet, @zachxbt said the Bored Ape Yacht Club discord channel has been hacked and a Mutant Ape NFT has been stolen.

PeckShield, a security firm said, the hackers were able to successfully post a phishing link in the Mutant Ape Kennel Club channel. The malicious link was disguised as a ‘stealth NFT mint’ and used to steal Mutant Ape Yacht Club #8662 from one user.

Bored Ape Yacht Club (BAYC) has acknowledged the hack and cautioned users not to mint any NFT using a link posted on its Discord. Additionally also warned the community it had no plans for any April Fools stealth mints.

BAYC tweeted, “STAY SAFE. Do not mint anything from any Discord right now. A webhook in our Discord was briefly compromised. We caught it immediately but please know: we are not doing any April Fools stealth mints/airdrops etc. Other Discords are also being attacked right now.”

According to @SerpentAU, the hackers may have carried out the attack using Ticket Tool. It’s a popular Discord bot that automatically generates support tickets.

Doodles, another popular NFT collection’s Discord channel being exploited has been reported, though there is no mention about it from the  Doodles team.

Hackers have been known to compromise Discord accounts by executing phishing attacks on NFTs collectors. A few weeks ago Rare Bears, a newly launched NFT collection, was a victim of a similar attack and lost assets worth over $790,000
