HubSpot, a popular CRM tool used by many companies was hacked yesterday leading to more breaches at BlockFi, Swan Bitcoin, NYDIG, and Circle.

HubSpot is used by many organizations to take care of their marketing campaigns and onboard new users.

HubSpot CRM tool is used to store users’ names, phone numbers, and email addresses for marketing purposes, and measure the effectiveness of marketing campaigns.

According to HubSpot the passwords and other internal information were secure since it is an external tool and hackers did not gain access to internal systems.

The HubSpot data breach has enabled hackers to gain access to an employee account and use it to target stakeholders in the cryptocurrency industry. Nearly 20 clients were affected, though the entire list has not been published.

Some HubSpot users have confirmed they received an uptick in phishing emails from companies over the weekend. They were trying to lure them into entering passwords on their fake site.

This is not the first time BlockFi is under a cyberattack, earlier in 2020 its employee’s SIM card was compromised and ported over to an unauthorized user. To make things more secure from their end, they hired a new chief security officer.

In February, Pantera Capital, a crypto venture capital firm, said its Hubspot account had been compromised and followed up with an email to its clients on March 19. There is no official word from HubSpot about the compromise at the moment.
