Sipalay City Mayor Maria Gina Lizares’s official Facebook account was hacked on Thursday evening, Feb. 3.

A post on the Sipalay City Facebook page said, “Please disregard any communication or request from the Facebook account named ‘Gina Montilla’ as it is being used by a hacker.”

“The post further mentioned, “Kindly report and send a screenshot of this particular Facebook account if you have received messages asking for money or donations.”

“We are now doing an immediate investigation to trace the person behind this incident and impose legal action against the unlawful action.”

Early reports suggest three people sent money to the person using Gina’s account. One of them sent P15,000 believing that it was Lizares who was asking for help while the other person was her executive assistant who sent P27,000.
