UK Police Arrest Teenager Suspected in Uber and GTA 6 Hacks

The UK Police have arrested a 17 yr old teenage suspect of being involved in the Uber and GTA6 hacks. The suspect has been charged with multiple counts of computer misuse and breaches of bail.

The suspect, whose name was not released due to reporting restrictions, was arrested in Oxfordshire on September 22nd as part of an investigation by the City of London Police, which deals primarily with financial crimes. The U.K.’s National Crime Agency also assisted with this matter.

A 17-year-old from Oxfordshire, who was suspected of hacking, has been arrested by the City of London Police. He is currently in custody. 

Uber has claimed that its recent cyberattack was initiated by the hacker group Lapsus$. Last week, Uber said their breach may have also been caused by the hacker who also hacked Rockstar Games. The hacking incident’s results include leaked videos and game footage of Grand Theft Auto 6.

A GTA fan online forum user claims to have hacked Uber, and posts from the account are archived on the forum

The identity of the teen is still unknown, but he is believed to be connected to the Lapsus$ hacking group that has orchestrated attacks on Microsoft and Nvidia. As of now, many individuals have been arrested.

A 16-year-old living in Oxfordshire, England was suspected of being the mastermind behind the Lapsus$ hacking group. He was thought to be the mastermind behind Lapsus$ after they discovered his personal information online.
