Linux Mint 20.3 Cinnamon (Edge) edition is available for download, it comes with some fixes and support for new hardware, though it does not come with Microsoft’s Edge browser.
In case you are using extremely new hardware, you may require a new kernel to boot as old kernels sometimes do not support such devices. Recently released Linux Mint 20.3 “Una” for instance comes with Linux kernel 5.4 where if the older kernel does not support your computer, it may not boot.
You may have a question if you should always use the most recent kernel. The answer is no, As the new kernels do add fixes and support for new hardware, yet they are less stable and can cause bugs.
So we would advise you not to promptly download and install the latest Linux Mint 20.3 Cinnamon (Edge) Edition on your production machine. The developers also warn, “The Edge ISO image is not as stable as the other ISOs and may not support as many proprietary drivers.” You would be better off trying the regular version of Linux Mint 20.3 to check it doesn’t boot or has other issues with your hardware.
In case you have cutting-edge hardware and cannot boot the regular Linux Mint ISO, you can go ahead and download the Edge variant here. Also would like to caution you the Edge version is offered only with the Cinnamon desktop environment and Xfce ISOs are not available.
