Facebook plans to rebrand itself next week ahead of its plans to focus on Metaverse.

The social media giant plans to rebrand itself at the company’s Annual Conference on Oct 28. According to inside sources, the announcement could come sooner.

It is likely Facebook may create an umbrella company, similar to the creation of Google by its parent company Alphabet in 2015. The new company will oversee the Facebook app along with Instagram, WhatsApp, and Oculus.

Facebook has been exploring the Metaverse space since the acquisition of Oculus 2014. Metaverse is a computer-generated environment where people can interact with each other using AR, VR, and other technologies. There are other tech companies showing interest in Metaverse, with developers comparing it to the internet in terms of openness and interoperability.

A few days ago Facebook made an announcement to hire around 10000 people from the European EU. They would be responsible for working with Horizon Worlds, a 3D virtual play space, over the next five years.
