Kaseya Ransomware Attack earlier this month impacted its customers across the globe, now the company is offering a universal decryptor for those impacted by ransomware attacks.
Russian linked cybercrime gang REvil took responsibility for the attack and demanded a ransom to decrypt the compromised data.
Two weeks after the attacks Kaseya has come up with a universal decryption key. The company is offering it to customers impacted by the REvil ransomware attacks.
In a blog post Kaseya said , “On 7/21/2021, Kaseya obtained a decryptor for victims of the REvil ransomware attack, and we’re working to remediate customers impacted by the incident.”
Kaseya has obtained the tool from a third party and has an active working team involved in helping customers affected by the ransomware attack. They are trying to restore their environments, with no reports of any problem or issues associated with the decryptor.
The cloud-based IT management and remote monitoring solution is also working with Emsisoft to support their customer engagement efforts, and Emsisoft has confirmed the key is effective at unlocking victims.
Earlier REvil demanded $70 million as ransom to provide a decryption key. Strange enough the group has mysteriously shut down its website and is not communicating via its normal channels.
This might be the silence before the storm arrives, remains to be seen but right now the organizations impacted by the attack have a recourse.
Kaseya concluded by saying, “We remain committed to ensuring the highest levels of safety for our customers and will continue to update here as more details become available. Customers who have been impacted by the ransomware will be contacted by Kaseya representatives,” it concludes.
