Microsoft will close LinkedIn in China, it was the last major US-operated social media in China. A localized version of LinkedIn was launched by LinkedIn in China in February 2014. The intention behind this was to connect world professionals and make them more productive and successful.
This was the only way out considering strict internet laws in the country, the platform offered limited features for users in China.
The decision to close LinkedIn in China comes as a result of a “significantly more challenging operating environment and greater compliance requirements in China.”
Microsoft plans to launch a job search site in China, which will not have social features like LinkedIn.
