Two Thumbs Up is a reaction button introduced by Netflix for users who really really love it. The streaming giant’s latest feature will get additional input from the users into the recommendation algorithm powering their content gavage.
Netflix in a blog post mentioned, “Consider Two Thumbs Up as a way to fine-tune your recommendations to see even more series or films influenced by what you love. A Thumbs Up still lets us know what you liked, so we use this response to make similar recommendations. But a Two Thumbs Up tells us what you loved and helps us get even more specific with your recommendations.”
The decision will help understand more shows and movies subscribers love and will be translated in terms of the time spent in the app. Likewise, also give stats of paying customers thinking about canceling their subscriptions.Subscribers will also benefit from this new reaction button as now you can emphasize what they like and what they really love.
Netflix stated, “Providing an additional way to tell us when you’re really into something means a profile with recommendations that better reflect what you enjoy.”This is not the first time Netflix has ventured into the idea of getting feedback from users. Earlier in 2017, Netflix quit its rating system of 5 stars, if everything goes well with the latest experiment the platform will further tweak its recommendation system.
