Newly appointed Twitter CEO, Parag Agrawal fires top security staff which includes Twitter’s head of security Infosec guru Mudge aka Peiter Zatko, and CISO this month.
Zatko joined Twitter in 2020 in the aftermath of nearly 130 high-profile accounts which included Elon Musk, Bill Gates, Barack Obama, and Joe Biden, who were compromised by miscreants. Zatko is the original member of The Cult of the Dead Cow and L0pht.
Rinki Sethi, Twitter’s CISO is also out of the microblogging site, recruited in 2022 to fix Twitter security issues.
According to the New York Times, in a move to remake the business under his management, the newly appointed CEO Parag Agarwal issued an internal memo.
Both are the latest victims of the new CEO, though both have got golden parachutes and will not face issues finding a new job.
She confirmed the move in a tweet earlier on Friday.

There have been a lot of speculations and raised eyebrows amongst the security community as to why they left since it was not voluntary. New CEOs have a tendency to put their mark on a company, while some have differences in terms of the new direction the company plans to take. In the case of Twitter it may have been technologies like cryptocurrencies and blockchains, it started showing a sudden interest in.
