Ola Electric Scooters are built locally in a massive scooter mega factory with an initial capacity to produce 2 million electric scooters annually.
Earlier last year the company teased its Ola Electric S1 and S1 Pro, being highly anticipated and now the orders are open for the same. There are high expectations with all eyes on how the company grows its scooter operations domestically and abroad.
India is the world’s largest two-wheeler market in the world with nearly 15 million two-wheelers sold annually. Electric scooters are not in huge demand compared to the ones running on gas. This story can change with the introduction of Ola Electric Scooters in India in a short period of time.
Ola S1 and S1 Pro feature an 8.5 kW electric motor mounted within the frame of the scooter, while the S1 offers a top speed of 90 km/h(56mph) the S1 Pro offers a top speed of 115km.(71mph).
The scooters house large capacity batteries with 3kWh in S1 and 4kWh in S1 Pro which offers a range of 121 km (75 miles) and 181 km (112 miles), respectively, and weighs 121 kg (267 lb).
These features can outright beat many moped class electric scooters’ mere 45km/h (28 mph) speed limits. That’s not all the Ola Electric scooters also come with smart features such as 7-inch color touch screens that include GPS-based map navigation in addition to typical performance readouts on user-selectable skins.
You can also use voice commands such as “Hey Ola, play some music.” Allowing you to enjoy the music out of the scooter’s built-in speaker system. You can connect your smartphone with the scooters OS and receive calls while riding it.
The Ola Electric Scooter comes with its app which the riders can use to adjust lighting, set geofencing boundaries, modify electronic sound profiles (or remove them entirely), create rider profiles, and more.
Users can install multiple profiles on the scooter for friends and family members and get a customized performance and user interface modifications for each one of them.
If you are impressed by the impressive tech the scooter has to offer, the price will certainly not dampen your spirits as they start at just Rs 99,999 ($1,350).
According to Bhavish Aggarwal, CEO, Ola scooters will soon be delivering to the US market from early next year.
Currently, Ola Electric Scooters are only available in India and the company has started taking orders. Production is growing at a rapid pace and it won’t be long before the company starts making its way overseas.
