According to American astronaut Scott Kelly, NFTs offer astronauts a new outlet to share experiences.
He is not alone who believe that blockchain has a huge potential, there are celebrities, athletes, and politicians who are latching on to the nonfungible token (NFT) mania. Now it’s Scott’s turn to share his experiences in space via NFTs.
While talking with Cointelegraph, Scott Kelly, a retired United States astronaut, stated he was curious about the growing blockchain technology and NFTs. He said, has been following blockchain for the last six years and sees the potential it carries.
It is this growing curiosity to understand how it will play a role in space development that has got him excited to be part of it. He wanted to introduce himself to the NFT community and contribute to charity.Earlier Kelly released an NFT collection called, “Dreams Out of This World.” It’s a recreation of his space journey via many digital artworks. 3,333 NFT were sold and a collection of $500,000 in sales, will be handed over to the nonprofit Global Empowerment Mission (GEM) to help people affected by the war in Ukraine.
He said, “The Ukraine crisis is something I hold very close to my heart, which is why we will be donating 100% of the proceeds from the initial sale through GEM in support of Ukrainian relief.”
According to him, there are many ways to help, thankfully he has launched an NFT, which allowed him to help victims of the crisis.
He finally added, “NFTs can offer astronauts a new outlet for sharing their experiences as opposed to posting this on the internet where it can quickly be lost in the shuffle.”
