Decentralized blockchain based metaverse, The Sandbox hosts its first digital and real life wedding on its metaverse. 

For Joanne Tham and Clarence Chan’s wedding, their friends dressed in ’70s disco attire, and the celebration took place at the Alkaff Mansion, which is an exact replica of what it looked like in the 1970s.The Sandbox Hosts its First Digital and Real Life Wedding_1The Sandbox hosted an event in which two digital avatars could be seen. Guests could remotely join the event and see the avatars in person. Sebastien Borget officiated the event digitally, in a virtual avatar form.

After their virtual wedding, the couple kissed in the Metaverse and returned to the real world.

The Alkaff Mansion was recreated as a virtual reality experience, created by Smobler Studios and 1-Group. The Sandbox allowed for the collaboration, with Web3 editing and designing the VR world. The Alkaff Mansion is currently managed by 1-Group.
