WhatsApp regularly introduces new features, this time the messaging app is working on new drawing tools for images and videos. The latest features will offer WhatsApp users a more secure and richer messaging experience.
According to WABetainfo, the messaging app is working on two new drawing pencils and an inbuilt image editor in the latest Android beta. The icons in the leaked image suggest new pencils which can offer broader tips, enabling users to draw or scribble thicker lines on images or videos.
Right now WhatsApp users can change the pencil color, though there is no option to increase/decrease its thickness. The latest information also reveals WhatsApp has already started work on its Android app to blur images. This feature will enable sharing screenshots and photos easier, with users being able to blur out the sensitive parts before sending them.
More drawing tools are being developed by the platform, though no information about the same is available yet. Also, there is no clarity when these new tools will be available to the general public. Yet as always these new features will hit the beta version first before being rolled out to WhatsApp’s massive user base.
Looks like WhatsApp is trying to catch up with Telegram, the app is offering users a more feature-rich experience with options like spoiler styling, emoji reactions, per-chat themes, screen sharing, and animated backgrounds.
But let’s not forget WhatsApp is the market leader with around two billion active users worldwide and over five billion downloads on the Play Store alone. Telegram on the other hand has managed to cross 1 billing Play Store installs in October 2021.
