Whatsapp will soon add another functionality, this will allow you to play voice notes in the background. Earlier last year WhatsApp added the ability to change playback speed of voice notes Later it also started work on adding a new feature that would enable users to transcribe voice notes.
A month ago the messaging app rolled out the feature to preview voice notes before you send them. The latest addition to these features is the ability to send voice messages in the background.
According to WABetaInfo, a new global voice note player has been incorporated with the latest WhatsApp beta for Android (v18.104.22.168). It enables users to play voice notes in the background. Presently you play a voice note in WhatsApp and switch to a different chat, it stops playing.
The new voice note player enables you to play a voice note and navigate to the WhatsApp home screen or to a different chat and show up at the top of the app. The new voice note player includes control buttons that allow you to pause, resume, and dismiss the voice note, and it even features a progress bar.
The feature is currently in the development stage and will be only available for beta testers in the latest WhatsApp beta release. Still awaiting an official statement from WhatsApp about this feature and when it will start rolling this out on the beta channel.
WhatsApp has been working on this feature for iOS devices since October last year when it was spotted in a WhatsApp beta for iOS, it still has to go live.
