Luis Fernandez, the architect for MetaMundo’s latest project, has designed an ocean-adjacent villa in the form of an NFT. The MetaMundo’s 3D NFT Villa has many entertaining spaces such as meditation paivals and an NFT gallery. Luis’s design is to explore how architecture will be used in the metaverse that is characterized by physics being irrelevant and materials limited to surface images.
The architecture is built on two approaches ie. either free the building from constraints like physics and create a sculptural object that can be explored or to use familiar forms. Structureless objects can have an interactive quality, like being able to walk on, but still have the quality of being experienced by people.
MetaMundo’s 3D NFT Villa architect discusses how the villa is inspired by ancient Greek temples and combines Frank Lloyd Wright’s ideas with Mies van der Rohe’s style. The Villa begs users to enter. Upon doing so they are teleported to the main entry point that looks like a temple in Greece, where the columns resemble those of an ancient Greek temple.
The architect can’t say for sure if virtual reality will cause a paradigm shift in the field of architecture, but he says it is likely to change and challenge traditional forms of architecture in new ways.
In an interview with MetaMondo, Luis Fernandez expresses his opinion that we are at a point where traditional forms of architecture are challenged by the evolution of the virtual world.
Luis Fernandez said, “At the end of the day, I think of these spaces – those in the metaverse – as being very similar to set design, as in the set of a theater, or film; they’re all telling a story.”
The 3D NFT villa is an exclusive edition of 100, minted by MetaMundo. These objects are optimized for use in the metaverse, such as on platforms like Spatial, Decentraland, and Cryptovoxels. MetaMundo updates the object after sale with adaptations for newer versions of the metaverse.
